Chiropractor
What I Offer:
As a chiropractor, I diagnose and treat a wide range of physical ailments. Areas of dysfunction are assessed in order to uncover the root cause and are treated using a combination of muscle work, mobilizations, adjustments, and rehab exercises. Each individual receives a customized care plan that may include any, or all of the above treatment methods-because what I can say with complete certainty is that no two people are the same and therefore shouldn’t be treated as such!
Chiropractic care is a great option for treating musculoskeletal dysfunction that you might commonly feel as aches and pains in the body. It also extends beyond this benefit because as your body corrects dysfunction in the spine (which houses your spinal cord + nervous system) it allows for balanced communication between the brain and the body, allowing you to thrive and be your healthiest self.
We know that the body has the ability to heal itself. My goal is to simply deliver care in a wholistic way, while your body does the healing.
Treatment Details:
I am certified in Webster Technique from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. This is a specific analysis and adjustment of the sacrum that provides safe and effective prenatal care. This technique is used to help restore balance to the pregnant mother’s pelvis and facilitate neuro-biomechanical function of the pelvis. Simply put-the goal of this technique is to allow mom to be as comfortable as possible during pregnancy and birth.
My adjusting techniques include manual therapy, drop table, and activator. These allow me to mobilize areas that may not be moving as they should so that your body can move and function better.
My soft tissue techniques and muscle work include manual muscle release therapy, trigger point therapy, instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation. These techniques assist in releasing muscle tension, especially in areas where muscles are taking over or compensating for others.
Cupping is available and performed to increase blood flow to specific regions and stimulate the healing process.
I also perform taping when necessary. The tape I use is multifunctional and can be used to increase circulation of an area and improve healing, or it can be used to provide support without limiting movement.
Rehab + home exercise help to sustainably strengthen and stabilize areas of concern. These are tools that will last you a lifetime to improve your health and mobility long-term.
As mentioned above I take a wholistic approach to care, which means we will often discuss lifestyle factors that you can control, such as nutrition. I hold a Masters in Clinical nutrition and use my expertise to give simple and realistic recommendations to patients. Specific nutrition consultations and programming going into greater depth are available to patients upon request!
A Bit About Trish
Hey! I am Dr. Trish ☺
I will become a familiar and friendly face in the upcoming months as I begin to offer my chiropractic services on Manitoulin Island.
I’m not your classic chiropractor. Monday to Friday I serve my community with a full-time housecall practice. I had this vision of convenient care delivered to rural doorsteps. And so it is!
The world today is fast-paced and overwhelming. I see value in slowing down. I see value in simplicity. And I see value in quality over quantity. This is why I spend the time getting to know and understand each patient on a personal level.
My mission is to provide quality care, addressing the body as a whole and promoting long-term wellness. Patient empowerment is really important to me which is why I work together with patients to build a care plan that fits their life, and where we can work on improving the things they CAN control (lifestyle, nutrition, mindset, and movement).
Most of us don’t know how good our bodies are designed to feel. So let me just say that you deserve the feel really great in your body, no matter what point you are at in your journey. And I’m here to support you through that.
At the end of the day, I’m just like you-northern roots, coffee-loving, plaid wearing, lover of the outdoors that enjoys simplicity and prefers living on island time. I’m very approachable and I encourage you to strike up a conversation with me, whether it be about chiropractic, health, or the latest outdoor adventure-I’m here to connect!
